Menopause is just like puberty, only this time we have a clue.
What is Menopause?
- Natural Menopause – Meno (menstruation) pause (stops) is technically, the last menstrual flow of a woman’s life. Usually defined after the fact, that is once 12 months have passed without a period. Ideally the menopausal climax years include the year or two before and a year or more after the very last menstruation, but with poor diet and life style can last 10-15 yrs
- Induced Menopause - Caused by a medical intervention, like surgical removal of the ovaries or from medications such as chemo.
- Peri menopause – The process of change that leads to menopause. This is what we normally think of as Menopause….
When does it start and finish?
- Usually starts between 40 -51 yrs of ages. Duration of 4 to 5 yrs. Peri menopause can begin as early as 35 though.
Things to consider
- Our bodies and its hormones are intimately connected. We cannot ignore the screams of our bodies through PMS, Postpartum depression and SAD, and then expect the body to go easy on us during menopause. Our poor eating habits, unresolved issues, and unhealthy relations can lead to PMS issues …. And peri menopause…. Which has been described as PMS times 10
Homeopathy can help!
A growing number of women today are dissatisfied with the harmful side effects of Conventional Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and are on the lookout for safer, more Holistic ways of approaching the symptoms of menopause.
Can you go through menopause symptom free? Simply yes
As with many women’s health issues like pregnancy, labor and delivery, menopause is viewed by mainstream science as a disease. Science goes out of its way to suppress the symptoms of menopause. However menopause IS a natural progression in a woman’s life and should be embraced as such. Women are often taught to think of menopause as a pathological state, not as the natural transition that it is. It is a little like puberty in reverse. Not all young children go through puberty the same. It is an individual response and very much based on the general health status of each person.
A homeopath can make an assessment of your needs as a whole person, including the mental, emotional and physical problems associated with menopause. This means that your feelings and life situations, as well as physical symptoms, are taken into account when finding the best remedy for you as an individual. Hormonal imbalances respond particularly well to homeopathic treatment. It makes sense to treat this natural process with diet, exercise, and homeopathy. These methods enable you to take charge of your health and to go forward with joy and confidence to the next phase of your life. By taking good care of your health at this time, you will be laying the basis for good health in your later years.
Healthy changes you can make:
- Healthy lifestyle can lessen your symptoms, your risk of heart disease and lower other long-term problems related to aging.
- Diet - Choose a heart-healthy diet that is low in saturated fat and includes plenty of fish, fruits, vegetables, beans, and high-fibre grains and breads.
- Vitamins – Include plenty of calcium in your diet
- Regular exercise – Exercise can help you manage your weight, keep your heart and bones strong, and lift your mood.
- AVOID or Limit – Limit caffeine, alcohol, and stress. These things can make symptoms worse. Avoiding them may also help you sleep better.
- Stop smoking – If you smoke, stop. Quitting smoking can reduce hot flashes and long-term health risks.
Real women don’t have hot flashes, they have power surges
NOTE :Hot flashes (power surges) use up the bodies vitamin B, vitamin C, magnesium, potassium, calcium, and trace minerals
“Try to let go of resistance, welcome the surges. From an energy stand point a hot flash is a release of energy,
that rewires the nervous system making it capable of moving and transferring powerful healing and peace keeping
energies to the community.” – Susan Weed, Menopausal Years -The Wise Woman’s Guide.
